Evidently, Mad Max: Fury Road is infuriating men’s rights activists–whatever that is–for what they deem is blatant feminist propaganda in the film. In fact, the movie has been referred to as “the Trojan Horse feminists and Hollywood leftists will use to (vainly) insist on the trope women are equal to men in all things…”
Mind you, this charge is being levied based solely on the trailer, which features women issuing orders to men–God forbid! Charlize Theron, the film’s co-star alongside Tom Hardy, has previously criticized the lack of strong female characters in the post apocalyptic subgenre.
Men’s rights activists go on to say that Mad Max: Fury Road “is the subterfuge [Hollywood liberals] will use to blur the lines between masculinity and femininity, further ruining women for men, and men for women.”
We say, Godspeed to you, Mad Max: Fury Road! Science fiction has always been a verdant, powerful vessel for messages of social progress and what could be more progressive than equality and parity for women in cinema–and society as a whole. A slate of recent scifi films have taken on powerful causes–including class inequity in Elysium, Snow Piercer and a variety of other films.
This new twist to the summer’s big post apocalyptic blockbuster makes us even more excited to see it!
